So a couple days ago I talked to my friend Dillon

who’s already in South Africa, and I’m going over to meet up with him and together we’re going to run the camp.

He said the place we’ll be at isn’t really that different from the USA and that I shouldn’t be in too much of a culture shock… The only hard part is the insane racism there. He said he was talking to a woman who literally told him “black people have no souls..”

In South Africa, people are split up between whites, colored (everyone who’s not white or black), and blacks. Whites obviously being the superior race there. Dillon said that there I’ll be classified as colored and to be prepared to have white people look down at me and consider me less than them. And that they’ll prolly try and talk down to me (in Afrikaans or course) and that as soon as I say “Ummm can you speak in English asshole?” that they’ll be like oh shit she’s from America, okay she’s cool.

That’s so sad. I wish racism was dead.
